25th Making Healthful Decisions Conference Request for Proposals

November 6th, 2022|

25th Making Healthful Decisions Conference Request for Proposals March 17, 2023, marks the 25th anniversary of the Making Healthful Decisions Conference (MHDC). Over the years, the conference has covered various topics and themes related to research and insights, strategies and practices, and general knowledge about our well being. We are excited to present the following focus for the 25th-anniversary edition of the MHDC: Envisioning a Culture of Community: supporting families and the individual needs of their children This conference provides an update on the state of parenting, the challenges stemming from social inequities, and the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic that families are struggling with. Presenters will address how practicing a culture of community, especially with those often marginalized, can guide us to envision spaces that accept and support all ranges and varying needs of our bodies. The conference planning team is requesting proposals for workshops that will be held during the conference. A small honorarium will be available to the selected presenters. PLEASE RESPOND BY: 11/30/2022. Please Refer HERE for the Form

October Status

November 6th, 2022|

We made it through October and all of our coalition and Red Ribbon Week events/activities! We have roughly 200 submissions for a youth engagement survey created by Beverly Braxton from We The People. We will be working to organize the data before sharing it with the schools and others. This 5 question survey really focused on the needs of youth in Orange County. It asked what the top 5 topics that concern them the most are. They selected things like: depression, anxiety, gender identity, racism, physical and mental burnout, uncertainty for the future, peer pressure etc. It also asked what makes them hopeful for the future and what is good in their world. As well as a few other questions. We are really excited to organize all of these responses and see their suggestions on how we can better reach them and provide resources.   Trunk or Treat raised roughly $2,500 for the schools and the coalition. How Exciting!! The SADD Club did a great job with the haunted house, everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves.
