May 2-8, 2021 is Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week!

Unfortunately we are not able to have our events in person again this year but please join us virtually for our annual conference and annual walk. We devote this week to raising awareness, reducing stigma and promoting prevention and intervention for Children’s Mental Health needs!! Each year the National Federation of Families provides us with a theme to guide our efforts.

The 2021 theme is: Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week 2021

Their Message is: Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.” That said, our perception of mental health and learning to care for it –like we do our physical health – begins in childhood. It’s time to flip the script!

The National Federation challenges us to Flip the Script by teaching children and adolescents these important lessons:

– That caring for their mental health is a vital part of living a
healthy, fulfilling life.

– That experiencing mental health challenges during their lifetime is
not uncommon (1 in 5) and that it is not just ok, but it is important, to
ask for help when they do.

– To offer acceptance, support and respect for others who have mental
health challenges in their lives and communities.

Thanks for all you do to promote mental health and wellness in our community!
